Sponsorships and collaborations
Sponsorships, co-operations, collaborations – everywhere we operate, we strive to bring and share our core values of expertise, responsibility, pioneering and sustainability. We want to be an active part of the local community, starting from the early stages of our project development and lasting all the way to the decommissioning of our production facilities. Our presence spans several decades.
Basic principles for sponsorships
We prioritise sponsoring projects and activities that are located in the areas of our projects and that are related to well-being and physical activity for children and young people. To maximise the benefits of our funding, we prefer to work with clubs and associations whose activities are continuous, rather than with individual athletes or one-off events.
We can also support educational or local business activities that, for example, pave the way for a future labour force with expertise in renewable energy in the countries and regions where we operate.
Ilmatar continuously accepts requests, but applications received will be reviewed four times a year. For this reason, please get in touch in good time.

We seek partnerships that exist in the locations and regions where we operate.
Common goals
Our sponsorship collaborations should support our own strategic objectives and strengthen our identity, but we also want to be able to contribute to our partner’s objectives. We aim to become stronger through our shared commitment and to take pride in promoting each other in diverse contexts.
Close co-operation
Long-term and close sponsorship partnerships deliver better results. That is why we prefer to work long-term rather than temporarily, and welcome the opportunity for a regular dialogue between us.
Communication
We want our partners to have a plan on how to create visibility for us as a contributing organisation.

Applications should be sent using the form provided here and should include reasons based on the above and as fully as possible answer the following questions:
What is the field of activity? (culture, sport, science, social or community support, environment or other)
Who is the target group?
How would potential funding be used?
What is the link between the sponsorship activity and Ilmatar?
Does it support Ilmatar’s strategy and brand?
Why would a partnership with specifically Ilmatar be beneficial to you? Do we share the same values?

Code of Conduct
All our partners are expected to act in accordance with Ilmatar’s Code of Conduct, which sets out our principles on topics ranging from human rights, corruption and discrimination to sustainability and environmental issues. These are the same standards that we follow ourselves, and naturally we ask our partners to do the same.

Advancing of circular economy both in our own activities and in the Scouts
We aim to recycle 100% of wind turbine blades and solar panels. In addition, we also want to promote the circular economy in other parts of society and support the Sustainable in Scouting Fund. Most of the materials used in the wind turbine and its components are recyclable. The recycling rate for metal components (steel, copper, aluminium) is already very high, usually close to 100%. Valuable materials used in construction, such as iron and copper, are sold on. Wind turbine blades are made from fibreglass components and currently have a recycling rate of around 70-90% on average, depending on the manufacturer. When the fibreglass and other composite materials in the blades are recycled, the recycling rate for the whole wind turbine can be as high as over 90%. We have an agreement with Stena Recycling Oy to recycle wind turbine blades during the wind farm dismantling phase. We are the first energy company in Finland to commit to recycling the blades of all our wind turbines with Stena Recycling’s recycling solution. Currently, Stena Recycling recycles the glass fibre from wind turbines for cement production in Europe. Using composite material as a raw material for cement reduces carbon dioxide emissions of cement. Circular economy at the heart of our cooperation with the Finnish Scouts The role of the circular economy is strongly emphasized in our cooperation with the Finnish Scouts. For the second year in a row, we are supporting the Sustainable Scouting Fund, which enables local groups to better integrate the circular economy and environmental actions into their activities. Local groups can apply for support, from the Sustainable Scouting Fund, for projects that reduce its carbon footprint or reduce other environmental impacts of its activities. In the last two years, 48 groups have already received support for their sustainability and circular economy projects.

Ilmatar supports youth work on board the sail training schooner Helena
For the next two years, Ilmatar is collaborating with the Sail Training Association Finland (STAF) as a primary sponsor of their work on board the schooner Helena. STAF focuses on supporting marginalised young people while increasing interest in shipping as a future profession. “Young people can get a sense of belonging and support and at the same time become increasingly interested in shipping. We see this as very important,” says Anna Häger, Regional Manager of Ilmatar Offshore.

Ilmatar collaborates as main sponsor for “Stormskärs Maja”
Next October, one of the largest film productions ever carried out in Finland – Stormskärs Maja – will start on Åland. Ilmatar is one of the main sponsors. – The film production of Stormskärs Maja by Solar Films stimulates the local business community and creates a ripple effect that resembles those that will be created by offshore wind in the future. The project is well aligned with our values, says Anna Häger, Regional Manager of Ilmatar Offshore.
