What is your role at Ilmatar, and what kind of tasks and responsibilities does your work involve?
I started at Ilmatar as a thesis worker and have since worked in various analyst roles. Currently, I am also involved in trading.
Over the past two years, my responsibilities have expanded significantly. Initially, I focused mainly on price forecasting and related analysis. Gradually, my role grew to include the development of the price forecasting model itself as well as handling guarantees of origin (GoO) trading.
Today, in addition to my other responsibilities, I also participate in day-ahead spot trading, and the development of the price forecasting model has become my primary responsibility. Furthermore, with the Flow-Based (FB) market transition, my thesis topic – forecasting FB market parameters – has become an integral part of my daily work in market analysis.
How do you enjoy working at Ilmatar? What do you appreciate most about being part of the team?
Ilmatar has provided me with highly interesting tasks and a great opportunity to continuously learn new things. For someone as curious as I am, this has kept the work engaging. Additionally, my colleagues create exactly the kind of work environment I could hope for – so I have enjoyed my time here very much.
Tell us briefly about your career before joining Ilmatar.
Before Ilmatar, I worked at a university in academic roles, participating in research groups and working as a course assistant in teaching.
Briefly describe your educational background.
I graduated from Aalto University with a master’s degree in Engineering Physics, specializing in the energy sector.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in your career?
Perhaps somewhat indirectly, I have learned from my former manager how important it is to trust both your own abilities and those of your colleagues – while also remembering that, in the end, we are all just human.
