We are looking for a new colleague to join our Physical Trading team!
As our new Physical Trader, your main responsibilities will include continuously developing our trading setup and carrying out operative trading tasks, including shifts in our Day-ahead rotation. We are looking for someone who is passionate about power trading and eager to develop practical solutions and strategies for our portfolio and systems.
The Trading team plays a central role at Ilmatar. We are active in the Nord Pool and Nasdaq power exchanges, and we are continuously developing our market activities while building state-of-the-art market analytics. In this role, you will contribute to areas such as power generation forecasting and optimization, bidding strategies, physical market access, and the development of tools, systems, and new solutions that support our portfolio.

Your key responsibilities:
- Monitoring and developing our existing processes, such as forecasting and optimization
- Developing bidding strategies for physical markets
- Conducting physical trading across the Nordic exchange environment and reserve markets
- Ensuring focus on REMIT and MAR compliance
- Contributing to the development of our physical portfolio and its market implementation
- Managing communication and relationships with internal and external market and business stakeholders
- Developing Ilmatar’s physical market access, tools, systems, and new solutions
We are looking for:
- A Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, or Business Administration
- A solid background in physical power markets, with at least two years of hands-on experience in Day-ahead, Intraday, and reserve markets
- Understanding multi-market optimization
- Proven experience in projects or development related to physical trading environments
- Experience in wind or solar production, ancillary market price forecasting, energy storage, PPAs, imbalance settlement, and/or balance structure modelling is considered a strong advantage
- Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a team-oriented mindset
- Fluency in both English and Finnish

The position is full-time and permanent. Your primary workstation will be in Tampere, with the option to work remotely part of the time. The role includes trading shifts, which are shared with the rest of the team on a rotation basis approximately once a month. During trading weeks, shifts may also take place on weekends. Outside trading weeks, working hours are flexible. The starting date is negotiable, but your future colleagues are already looking forward to welcoming you on board!
