This year, Ilmatar aims to encourage all employees to take part in concrete responsible actions and to do good together. Each employee’s contribution can create a meaningful collective impact. To turn words and plans into action, the implementation of personal responsibility actions has been linked to the company’s incentive system.
Today, 18 February, marks World CSR Day – the international day dedicated to corporate social responsibility. The purpose of the day is to promote corporate responsibility, sustainable development, and ethical business practices – the same values that guide Ilmatar’s sustainability work.
“Global political uncertainty and shifting priorities in responsibility-related matters highlight the role of companies as pathfinders. Right now, consistent and long-term sustainability work is more important than ever,” says Anna-Maria Palmroos, who is responsible for sustainability at Ilmatar at executive level.
Ilmatar’s core mission in renewable energy contributes every day to the well-being of society and the environment. Our values-based approach guides us as a frontrunner in the industry. This is reflected in Ilmatar’s social responsibility policies, the company’s sustainability initiatives, and our ambition to be a safe, equal and inclusive workplace.
Incorporating a personal responsibility action into each employee’s annual objectives is a new initiative at the company.
“This year, we are involving our entire personnel in responsible actions. Every Ilmatar employee can use four working hours by the end of the year for a cause of their choice. The cause can be selected according to one’s own values. Options include volunteering for a non-profit organisation, participating in a fundraising campaign, donating blood, or joining a community clean-up initiative. Employees are also welcome to design their own way of contributing – for example, by offering their professional expertise to support the third sector,” Palmroos explains.
By engaging employees as an integral part of its sustainability efforts, Ilmatar demonstrates that it genuinely aims to make responsibility a shared way of working across the organisation.
