“Believe in yourself and dare to make mistakes but do it right next time.”

What are your tasks at Ilmatar, what kind of different things and tasks do your working days include?

I work as a project developer for solar energy projects since 2023 at the office in Malmö. My main task is to run solar energy projects from start to finish of the environmental permit and make sure that everything is ready before investment decisions. An important aspect is consultation meetings with authorities and the public to create understanding and insight into Ilmatar’s work with renewable energy. In addition to the project work, I maintain our contact with landowners, our most important partner. The work also involves constantly keeping track of new legislation, political changes and innovative technology that may affect our projects.

How do you like it at Ilmatar? What do you enjoy most about being part of the Ilmatar team?

Creating renewable energy like Ilmatarian gives me energy! It is also a real joy to go to the office and take on new challenges together with competent colleagues.

Tell briefly about your career before Ilmatar.

My interest in nature and the environment has taken me on a career journey that began with my first job in Kalix Municipality as an environmental inspector. I continued to work in various environmental authorities for about 10 years and later worked as an environmental manager in the recycling industry for a couple of years. After that, I started working at Ramboll as an environmental consultant with various types of environmental and infrastructure projects as well as environmental legislation. During my 12 years as a consultant, my roles have varied from technical manager, project manager to group manager for different teams. Prior to Ilmatar, I worked at the Environmental Administration at Malmö Municipality as a unit manager.

What kind of educational background do you have?

My degree is M.Sc Environmental & Health Studies. After my military service in the Swedish Air Force, I graduated from Umeå University in 1997 which included one year of studies at York University in Toronto.

What are the best lessons you have learned during your career?

There have been a lot of hard experiences over the years, but also many good ones. Believe in yourself and dare to make mistakes but do it right next time.
