Max. 45 Ha Area size
Est. 2027 To be operational

The Riihiviita solar power project is located in Riihimäki, Kanta-Häme. Legally valid building permits have been obtained for a 45-hectare agricultural area.

In the planning of the Riihiviita site, special attention has been paid to preserving the open agricultural landscape surrounding the culturally and historically significant Riihiviita Manor. The project is situated on the western edge of a large field area, west of Riihiviidantie and south of Kolanojantie. This placement ensures that the open rural landscape remains visible from key viewpoints. In certain locations, shrub-dominated vegetation buffers are planned to provide visual screening, but no tall trees will be planted. The Riihiviita site consists entirely of cultivated farmland, meaning no forest clearing is required for the project.

The Riihiviita project is closely linked to the Tervakoski solar project in the neighboring municipality of Janakkala. The two projects are intended to be constructed together and connected to the existing Forssa–Hikiä 110 kV transmission line via medium-voltage underground cables. From the Riihiviita site, the cable route is planned to run along the edge of Riihiviidantie toward Fingrid’s transmission infrastructure.
