After 1,5 year’s hard work, this marks a crucial step in the project’s development, as securing an environmental permit is required before construction can begin.
The Uppsalebo solar park, located in the Västervik municipality, will cover approximately 380 hectares of production forest and is planned to have a capacity of up to 290 MW. Once operational, it will be one of the largest solar power parks in Sweden, contributing significantly to the region’s renewable energy production.
The Uppsalebo project is part of a broader push by Ilmatar to expand renewable energy capacity in southern Sweden, alongside two other major projects: Tönnersjö and Olivehult. Together, these three projects will significantly contribute to Sweden’s renewable energy capacity, with Uppsalebo being the third-largest planned park in the country.
If there are no appeals to the Environmental Court (Miljödomstolen) or after any potential appeals are resolved, Ilmatar expects to proceed with construction and aim for the park to be operational by 2034.
