Ilmatar is planning a wind power project in the Suorssaneva area in Laihia. The project was previously known as Kattiharju. The new name, Suorssaneva, was officially adopted in 2025.

The project’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) programme and the participation and assessment scheme (PAS) will be available for public viewing from 13 August to 11 September 2025. A public event will be held on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ylipää Youth Association in Laihia (Tampereentie 1030, 66460 Laihia). Coffee will be served from 5:00 p.m. onwards.
The Suorssaneva area has proven to be highly suitable for wind power and has been designated as a wind power area in Ostrobothnia’s newly approved regional land use plan.
