Ilmatar is planning a wind power project in the Suorssaneva area in Laihia. The project was previously known as Kattiharju. The new name, Suorssaneva, was officially adopted in 2025.

The project’s EIA program and participation and assessment plan (OAS) were made available for public review in autumn 2025. We are currently assessing the best way to advance the project’s draft local master plan and EIA report.
The Suorssaneva area has proven to be highly suitable for wind power and has been designated as a wind power area in the recently approved regional plan for Ostrobothnia.

Ilmatar is one of the financiers in a joint nature gift initiative by renewable energy companies. The participating companies donated the protection and restoration of one hectare of peatland and forest areas for each year of Finland’s independence.
