Public display of the project’s EIA program and participation and assessment scheme (OAS) are expected to be in spring/summer 2025. The Kattiharju area has proven to be highly suitable for wind power and has been designated as a wind power area in the recently adopted regional plan of Ostrobothnia.

Fixed setback distance between wind turbines and residential areas may slow down the green transition
The Finnish Ministry of the Environment has proposed a fixed setback requirement for wind turbines, which would significantly limit the areas suitable for renewable energy development. If energy companies lose interest in investing in renewable energy, the progress of the green transition — as outlined in Finland’s national climate and energy strategy — will also slow down. Additionally, Finland’s attractiveness as a destination for international industrial investment would decline, weakening the country’s competitiveness.
