Ilmatar is preparing a wind farm with 20 wind turbines in the Pielavesi and Keitele areas of Northern Savonia. The Muntterinkangas planning area is located between Hirvenselkä and Vuonamonlahti, approximately 10 kilometers north of Keitele’s municipal center and about 15 kilometers northwest of Pielavesi’s municipal center. In Phase 2 of the Northern Savonia Regional Plan 2040, the Muntterinkangas area has been designated as a potential wind power area. The plan includes 17 turbines in the Pielavesi area and three in the Keitele area.

Current Situation
The Pielavesi Technical Board approved Ilmatar’s planning initiative for the Pielavesi side on December 21, 2021, and the Keitele Municipal Board approved the planning initiative for the Keitele side on March 7, 2022. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) process for the Muntterinkangas wind power project has been completed, and the Northern Savonia ELY Center issued its reasoned conclusion on January 10, 2024.
The project has progressed favorably in both Pielavesi and Keitele. The approval of the partial master plan is scheduled for spring 2025.
According to the preliminary schedule, the construction of the wind farm is planned for 2026–2027.
