Ilmatar is developing a solar energy project in the Husula area of Luumäki, consisting of two separate sections. The northern section is located along the railway line north of the Urpalanjoki River, while the southern section is situated southwest of the village.

The areas planned for construction are currently agricultural fields. Electricity transmission for the project is planned to take place via medium-voltage underground cables to Fingrid’s power line located north of the railway, meaning that no new overhead lines will be built for the implementation of the project.
The project’s building permit became legally valid in October 2025. As part of the continued planning during 2026, more detailed plans will be drawn up, including water management and refinement of the landscaping plan to preserve the rural scenery visible from the village of Husula. The Urpalanjoki River will be taken into account in the detailed planning to ensure that its riparian zone remains untouched and that no soil material enters the water body during construction. A decision on starting the construction of the project will be made no earlier than autumn 2026, and the project could begin producing electricity at the end of 2027 at the earliest.
